How do I prepare for the digital exams?

Read the info below carefully and completely.

Online AP tests will be taken on the AP Digital Testing App on your computer. It is time to try out the App and start to practice the exam questions. ERHS students can use their school-managed Chromebooks for testing. If you wish, ERHS students can use a personal laptop for testing. You may not use a personal Chromebook that is not school-managed. Visiting students can use our spare Chromebooks if testing at ERHS. Students taking World Language Exams will test using our ERHS-managed Chromebooks.

If you use your own personal laptop, you will need to download the AP Digital Testing App. If testing on your own laptop at school, you will be responsible for making sure your personal laptop gets on our school wireless network.

See these important links for instructions

1.     Overview

2.     Detailed Instructions

3.     Download and Install (the app is already installed on our ERHS Chromebooks)

4.     Practice with example questions

The overview flier has images of what you'll see when you go to locate the app on a Chromebook. In words,

  1. Restart your machine.
  2. Turn on the Chromebook and don't login.
  3. Go to the bottom left corner and find the apps button on the screen.
  4. Choose the AP Digital Testing App.
  5. The student should login to the App with their College Board username and password.
  6. Click through the App Demo and digital practice questions so you are familiar with what the exam will look like.
  7. Come back to the AP Digital Testing App 1-3 days before each digital exam the student plans to take to complete the final exam set up.

What if I am a senior and need my Chromebook after the June 3rd check-in?

ERHS seniors testing on or after June 3rd, please disregard reminders about your Chromebook or loaner until you are finished with AP tests. You will turn in your Chromebook and charger to the main office when you are finished with your AP tests.

When is the deadline for changing AP test dates or locations?

7 days before each exam is the last opportunity to change AP test dates or locations. For example, if you want to change to test digitally @ home on June 8, June 1 would be the last opportunity to request Ms. Salmon to change your test date to June 8 @ home.

How long is each exam?

Each of the 38 exams has its own unique requirements; however, almost all the exams—paper and pencil and digital—have the following things in common. Details about each subject are on the exam pages.

  • Exams are 2–4 hours long.
  • The first part of the exam usually consists of multiple-choice questions.
    • You will choose 1 of 4–5 answer choices for each question and use a pencil to bubble in your choice on your AP answer sheet for paper and pencil exams.
    • You’ll enter your answers in the exam application for digital AP Exams and AP Chinese and AP Japanese Language and Culture Exams.
    • Your total exam score on the multiple-choice section is based only on the number of questions answered correctly. You won’t receive or lose points for incorrect answers or unanswered questions.
  • The second part of the exam usually consists of free-response questions that require you to generate your own responses. Depending on the exam, your responses could be in the form of an essay, a solution to a problem, or a spoken response.
    • For paper and pencil exams: In most cases, you’ll be writing your response in pen in the free-response exam booklet.
    • For digital exams and AP Chinese and AP Japanese Language and Culture Exams: You’ll type your responses in the exam application on your computer.

How do I request a Make Up Digital Exam?

If you are scheduled for a May or June digital exam and need to request a make-up exam (to take after your test date),  you will request the make-up exam online on myap.org beginning May 18 - (the first day that digital exams begin to be administered). Students who were registered for a digital exam may submit a request for a makeup digital exam if:

myap.org

myap.org has been informing visitors about topics such as Login to My Account, School Program and My Account. Join thousands of satisfied visitors who discovered Login to Account, Login and Program for School.

  • An issue occurred during their digital exam that impacted their ability to test.
  • An unexpected situation prevented them from being able to test on the scheduled exam date.
  • They didn’t start check-in before the official start time for the exam.
  • Their exam responses were unable to successfully submit to the AP Program after repeated attempts to submit.

The ability to submit makeup requests will be available beginning May 18.

You may submit a request for a makeup digital exam if:

  • An issue occurred during your digital exam that impacted your ability to test.
  • An unexpected situation prevented you from being able to take your digital exam on the scheduled exam date.
  • You didn’t start check in before the official start time for the exam and were therefore unable to test.
  • Your exam responses were unable to successfully submit to the AP Program after repeated attempts to submit.

Deadline: If you want to request a makeup digital exam, you must do so through myap.org as soon as you know you need a makeup digital exam. Requests must be submitted on myap.org no later than 7 calendar days before the makeup digital exam you want to take.

When are AP scores available?

Scores will be posted on your College Board account (myap.org) in July. This may be a rolling process over the course of a few days in July.

Where would you like to send your AP Score Report?
Students—especially seniors—need to indicate through myap.org the college, university, or scholarship program they'd like to receive their free score report. Students indicate this information only through myap.org. The deadline to indicate or change a free score report recipient through myap.org for 2021 is June 20.

AP Dail
y Videos

New AP Daily videos are available in AP Classroom for every topic and skill in every unit. These videos can be used in person, online, and in blended learning environments. Students can watch them on their own or be assigned by their teachers. Learn more.

AP Terms  and Conditions

Students must agree to the AP Terms and Conditions prior to taking any AP Exam. The Terms and Conditions are available here. Students will receive reminders about reviewing the Terms and Conditions directly from the College Board.

Digital Exam Practice Available by April 12

Digital practice will roll out over several days. It will be added to the app starting April 8 and will be available for all digital exam subjects by April 12. Practicing with example questions in the digital testing app is the best way for students to prepare for digital exams. Students can:

Try each type of multiple-choice and/or free-response question they’ll encounter on exam day.

Preview the flow of the exam and practice using the tools and features in the app.

Confirm that their technology works as expected, including any assistive technology for approved accommodations.

Students will have access to two practice options:

Digital Practice: A longer option students can use to fully explore the digital testing application.

App Demo: A shorter option students can use to quickly confirm that the application is correctly installed, that questions display appropriately, and that they can enter answers.

We strongly recommend that all students taking digital exams do one of these practice options. See Digital Practice or the  AP Digital Testing Guide  for more information.

Free Review Materials
AP has built a series of materials and support videos. Resources are available by AP subject.

Cancellation of Exams
Please email Ms. Salmon to cancel an exam. Refunds will be available for the exam fees. Late fees are non-refundable.

Special Testing Accommodations
If a student has a current 504 or IEP in place, any testing modifications that are written into the 504 or IEP can be submitted to the College Board. Most of the time, test accommodations are also granted for AP testing. School staff are submitting accommodation requests to the College Board on behalf of our ERHS students. The deadline from AP to submit requests is January 15, 2021. Watch for emails from Ms. Salmon to confirm submission of your accommodation requests. If you have questions about this process, please email Ms. Salmon. The College Board may take up to 7 weeks to process a request for testing accommodations.

AP Art and Design

In 2020-21, students will submit their work entirely online through the AP Art and Design digital submission web application. There will be no physical portfolios for AP Art and Design this year. Learn more about the AP Art and Design portfolio requirements.
