Senior

Attention all 17 and 18 year old men

When you turn 18, the law says that you must register with Selective Service.

Those who fail to register may be denied student loans, government jobs, and driver's licenses in most states. In addition, if you are a male immigrant seeking to become a citizen, you must also be registered, regardless of your immigration status.

You can get a Selective Service registration card at your local post office or register at www.sss.gov.

Registering with Selective Service is important to your future, it keeps you eligible for many opportunities, and it's the law.

Writing the College Application Essay
This article "10 Tips for Writing the College Application Essay" first appeared in US News in September, 2010 but is still very valuable today.

Information Guide for Student Recommendation

Letter of Recommendation (LOR) Request Form

Seniors applying for college may need a letter of recommendation to be included in the application packet. You may want to ask a teacher, employer or coach to write such a document for you but they may need to know more about you.

The form link above can be filled in online, printed and distributed to those you are asking to write a letter of recommendation. This method is preferred because the information is more readable. You also may print the template and enter the data by hand in INK.

East Ridge counselors advise students to give the recommending adults three weeks to write the letter, if possible. Be sure you fill in the deadline date.
