We are happy to announce the addition of Olivia Alston to our ERHS staff. She wrote the following message below. Olivia can be reached at oalston1@sowashco.org

Hello! My name is Olivia Alston and I am the new Community Cultural Liasion at East Ridge High School, and am excited to be joining District 833! I attended 833 as a student and graduated from Woodbury HS in 2014. I attended University of Wisconsin-Madison as a Powers-Knapp Scholarship recipient and graduated with a degree in Political Science and Sociology this past May.  At UW-Madison I developed a passion for diversity and inclusion work, especially in the academic setting. I worked to create inclusive and enriching spaces across residence halls as a Residence Life Program Assistant and welcomed the class of 2022 as a Programming Intern for the university's orientation. I worked extensively with students and their support networks to ensure that they felt safe, included, and heard on campus while in these roles. I was a part of teams put together by campus leaders to collaborate with the Dean of Students and Chancellor to work towards a more equitable university experience for marginalized students. I also volunteered through my dance team with Boys and Girls Club in the Madison area. I have a passion for this work, and I"m excited to start building relationships with students, their support networks, and staff. I can't wait to give back to the district and community that supported me in my educational journey!

Additionally, we have another great support person on our East Ridge High School team, Mr. Tracy Barries, who also serves our students, on a weekly basis. Mr. Barries is at ERHS each Thursday. He can be contaceted at tbarries@sowashco.org
