AP Testing

ADVANCED PLACEMENT (AP) TESTING at ERHS

Advanced Placement tests are cumulative post-course assessments that can yield free college credits. Students sign up for testing in the fall and the tests are administered in May.
Exam Ordering Deadline
All AP exams need to be ordered and paid for by March 5. No exams will be ordered after that point.

2021 AP Exams will be Given Online
At this time, we are planning to administer our AP exams online from homes. If the testing (location) plans need to change, school staff will notify families through email.
3.1 Course Testing Plans
Our hexmester schedule is in place for the entire 2020-2021 school year. Students who have their AP class in hex 3.1 will take the corresponding AP exams during the  regularly scheduled 2021 AP testing window (May 3-7 and May 10-14).
3.2 Course Testing Plans
Students who have their AP class in hex 3.2 will take the corresponding AP exams during the late testing window. School staff will automatically change the testing dates for 3.2 students. No action needs to be taken by families to get set up for the late testing window. If there are conflicts with late test dates, ERHS staff will be in contact with your family directly. We are combing through each individual schedule to be sure we plan the best testing plans for each student.

Since the 3.2 hexmester has fewer class days before the AP test, the district and school have been working together to support our AP students. At this point, there will be an AP Schoology Resource Course available by ealy February, 2021 for self-study and exam prep for each AP course we offer. These are non-graded resource courses for all AP students, regardless of hexmester schedule. Use of materials will not affect student course grades. Staff are still exploring additional ways to support our AP students. When the specific details are ironed out, families will be notified by email.

Free Review Materials
AP has built a series of materials and support videos. Resources are available by AP subject.
Cancellation of Exams
Please email Ms. Salmon to cancel an exam. Refunds will be available for the exam fees. Late fees are non-refundable.
Special Testing Accommodations
If a student has a current 504 or IEP in place, any testing modifications that are written into the 504 or IEP can be submitted to the College Board. Most of the time, test accommodations are also granted for AP testing. School staff are submitting accommodation requests to the College Board on behalf of our ERHS students. The deadline from AP to submit requests is January 15, 2021. Watch for emails from Ms. Salmon to confirm submission of your accommodation requests. If you have questions about this process, please email Ms. Salmon. The College Board may take up to 7 weeks to process a request for testing accommodations.

Update from AP/ The College Board

We’re working with educators to prepare an expanded 2021 exam schedule, with two contingency testing dates for each subject—one in the second half of May and one in the first half of June—to support schools that want more instructional time before testing. Exams on the contingency dates will be full length, covering the full scope of content.

If a school is closed or coronavirus-related risks prevent a student from testing at a school, the AP coordinator will be able to authorize a full-length digital contingency exam that can be taken at home.

The exam schedule and information about the contingency testing options will be posted to AP Central in early February, and announced via email to AP teachers, AP coordinators, and administrators. For more information . . .
