ERHS Weekly Parent/Student Message - August 20, 2021
Dear East Ridge Families,
I would like to welcome you to the 2021-2022 school year at East Ridge High School! We will continue to communicate with you this year via our Friday weekly parent update and additionally as needed utilizing our Blackboard Connect communication tool.
We want you to know that the ERHS staff is very excited to welcome our 9th grade students on Tuesday August 31st for our annual freshman orientation. Grades 10-12 will join our 9th graders on Wednesday September 1st for the continuation of our transition week. On Wednesday and Thursday our students will go through the traditional 6 period day. During each class period the administration will be working with the teaching staff to provide important information to our students each period. The second half of each class period will be utilized to provide transition information and supports that are available to your children.
We began planning for this school year this past spring with our teaching staff meeting departmentally and cross departmentally to identify potential gaps and perceived misconceptions that students may have due to the pandemic, different learning models, and social/emotional health. At this time, we have identified those potential gaps and preconceived misconceptions that some students may have, and our staff will build lesson’s based on meeting students where they are at and differentiate instruction that is needed. We have developed the start of our year around the transition back to high school and the traditional 6 period day. Our weekly advisory will also be focused on transition throughout the first trimester along with our first week being a non-instruction week that is dedicated to the transition that our students need as I mentioned above.
Thank you for your partnership with us and please know that you can communicate with the administration at any time through phone or email. We are proud to serve you and the students of East Ridge High School!

East Ridge High School and SoWashCo Schools have partnered with HomeTown Ticketing to provide digital tickets and passes to all regular season home athletic events. Fans will be able to purchase and show their tickets or district passes on their phones to get into events.
Spectators can avoid the lines at events or the need to have cash at the door.
Fans have two ways of purchasing tickets and passes:
- use the following link: https://sowashco.hometownticketing.com/embed/all
- download the HomeTown Fan app on your iOS or android device
- The links will go live on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 to purchase sporting event tickets
Once in the system, fans can search for East Ridge HS events, purchase and save tickets right on their device. Spectators will receive a unique QR code that will be scanned at the event. Tickets purchased online can also be printed and brought to the event for admittance.
Ticket prices are set by the Suburban East Conference and remain $6 for adults and $4 for students; adult district passes are $60 and student passes cost $40. Adult passes also include free admittance for one elementary-aged student. Fans purchasing digital tickets and passes will have a small convenience fee added to their purchase. Cash ticket sales will still be available at all venues except for swimming. Senior citizens are free at all athletic events at SoWashCo Schools. Please note that city-owned ice arenas manage their own ticket sales and are not included in this partnership with HomeTown Ticketing.
Auditions for our fall musical, SpongeBob, are quickly approaching. Preliminary auditions will be conducted both virtually and in-person.
For the virtual audition, students will:
- prepare a short acting side (either Mayor or Squidward monologues)
sing 60 seconds of a song of their choosing (in the style of the show) or the selected cutting of the “SpongeBob SquarePants Theme Song”. Virtual auditions should be submitted by 5pm on August 23rd.
For the in-person audition, students will:
- come to one of two dance call times. Dance calls will be held from 7-9pm on August 24th and from 4-6pm on August 25th. During this time, students will learn and perform some brief choreography. Please bring water, dress for movement, and plan to wear a mask.
All the necessary auditions materials can be found at www.theloftstage.org
