Early Winter is a season of gathering, reflection and celebration. From the reverence of Veterans Day to the vibrant festivities of Diwali and the heartfelt gratitude of Thanksgiving, this time of year reminds us of the traditions that shape who we are.

Some students in grades 4–8 and all 9th-grade students will take an online reading test called Capti ReadBasix this January. This is required by the state’s MN READ Act.

Throughout the school year, SoWashCo Schools may enter into an emergency closure, e-learning day (extended-learning day) or a late start due to bad weather or other situations in which school cannot be held in person.

Beginning in the 2026–27 school year, students in the Class of 2028 and beyond (current 10th grade students) will be required to complete a one-credit (one-trimester) Personal Finance course as part of their high school graduation requirements, in accordance with new state legislation.

This year, East Ridge High School (ERHS) senior Sophia Soo joined an elite group of artists by achieving every point possible on her Advanced Placement (AP) Art portfolio. 

SoWashCo Schools is at a critical stage with a bus driver shortage that could result in cancellations or delays for bus routes in the mornings and afternoons.

Beginning at the Oct. 2, 2025 South Washington County Schools (SoWashCo Schools) Board of Education meeting, 3 new Student School Board Representatives will be joining the School Board.
