As South Washington County Schools works to ensure the safety of its students, various procedures and practices are periodically reviewed. One such practice deals with the release of students to an adult, allowing that adult to take a student from the building. Beginning in January of 2012, the following procedure will be in place:
In the absence of a court order of legally binding document, a student may only be released to authorized persons listed on the student’s emergency card and/or identified on the Infinite Campus Student Information System. Exceptions require a signed note from the custodial parent/legal guardian. Phone calls and verbal requests will not be accepted without additional verification. The School District will contact the custodial parent/legal guardian when there is a question or concern regarding the release of a student. The School District may also require some form of identification.
